Sleeping Rituals
Shaela is starting to really dislike taking naps and going to bed. So we had to beef up her sleeping rituals. We were reading books to her and then placing her in her crib and singing songs like: Frere Jacque, ABCs, (no more Twinkle Twinkle), and whatever else we knew the words to (not many!). But now the only song she wants to hear is "On Top of Spaghetti". She will listen to this over and over again. She sings it to herself now and then, it is so cute. I have also started to tell her made up stories we call, "the Princess Stories", all about herself and her cousins and friends. She looks forward to hearing them and gets really disappointed with "The End."
At least it makes her look forward to going to bed.
She has just started to use "I" instead of "You" when talking about herself. She catches herself often and corrects herself. This seems to be a hallmark of her becoming a little adult, and it brings me pride as well as a bit of sadness as she continues to get "older." She is also saying "sorry" when she does something wrong or makes one of us feel bad. She really gets it.
I had a dream this morning that she was telling me that Nonna needed "cyanidines", short for proanthrocyanidines which are found in berries and are a great source of antioxidants. This dream is not too far off from reality. Shaela already knows what has sugar in it and what is a carbohydrate or is protein. She knows what can produce "easy peasy poops" and what makes hard poops, and what will create more phlegm. It is pretty amazing. I guess this is what happens when your the daughter of two naturopathic physicians.
Blessings and Love,
Debbie, Justin and Shaela
